The virtues of Japanese green tea.
According to some analyses, Japanese sencha is one of the green teas with the highest polyphenol content. Note that the polyphenol content varies according to the cultivar, the harvest season, the steeping time. A recent analysis tells us that sencha mobata would be one of the richest sencha in antioxidants. For a quantity of 2.5 g of leaves infusing for 4 minutes would contain 3410 µMOLES of antioxidant per cup of 250 ml of water.
Tea contains several polyphenols, a large family of antioxidants, the main ones being catechins, theaflavins and thearubigins. Catechins are the most studied antioxidants in tea. Green tea is the one that contains the most.
Active principles and properties.
Antioxidants are compounds that protect cells in the body from damage caused by free radicals. The latter are very reactive molecules that would be involved in the development of cardiovascular diseases, certain cancers and other diseases related to aging.
Green tea also offers us several other virtues.
Neuro-protection, a consumption of two cups a day of green tea could prevent parkinson's disease and alzheimer's. Contribute to the maintenance of a healthy weight and to the reduction of body weight and fat percentage. May help decrease the formation of tooth decay. Observational studies in older women indicate an association between regular tea consumption and better bone density.
