South Africa

Rooibos is a plant from the legume family that originated in South Africa. Called "red tea", Rooibos has nothing to do with the camellia sinensis plant. It contains no caffeine, is high in minerals and anti-oxidants and has a lively fruity and tangy red liquor. Rooibos contains several antioxidant substances, especially polyphenols such as aspalathin (only known natural source), nothofagin, quercetin and luteolin. Here it is in its unfermented version.
